Pro-Athlete

Pro-Athlete is a 2-hour IV drip of 17 amino acids for muscle recovery and performance. It is made for athletes and for anyone who trains hard on a regular basis, and it contains large amounts of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which slow the breakdown of muscle protein and promote muscle protein synthesis.

IV therapy gets to work immediately. Because the drip goes directly into your bloodstream, your body absorbs the amino acids fully and at once, and your cells do not have to wait for the stomach and gut to absorb them. Your body takes what it needs and excretes the rest.

What it is and how it works

Amino acids are the "building blocks" that make up proteins. In the body they contribute to muscle development, recovery from injury and illness, repair of the body's tissues, and even the production of hormones and enzymes that regulate blood sugar. There are 20 amino acids, and each brings different benefits, whether taken as a personalized oral supplement regimen or infused intravenously.

An amino acid IV drip delivers these building blocks directly into the bloodstream. IV therapy bypasses the digestive system, which allows faster and more efficient absorption than oral supplements, which are sometimes ineffective because of poor absorption.

The Pro-Athlete drip contains 17 amino acids:

  • L-Leucine (2.8 g): supports muscle protein synthesis and plays a key role in muscle growth and repair.

  • L-Isoleucine (1.8 g): aids energy production, muscle recovery and the regulation of blood sugar levels.

  • L-Valine (2 g): promotes muscle growth and tissue repair, and helps maintain nitrogen balance in the body.

  • L-Lysine acetate (1.42 g): supports collagen formation and bone health, and may help reduce the frequency of cold sores.

  • L-Methionine (0.6 g): important for many metabolic processes, including detoxification and the synthesis of proteins and other molecules.

  • L-Phenylalanine (1 g): a precursor of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, supporting mood and cognitive function.

  • L-Threonine (0.7 g): essential for protein synthesis, collagen production and healthy skin and connective tissue.

  • L-Tryptophan (0.5 g): a precursor of serotonin, promoting relaxation, mood regulation and sleep.

  • L-Histidine (0.7 g): important for histamine production and for processes including digestion and the immune response.

  • L-Arginine (0.9 g): supports blood vessel health and immune function, and may play a role in wound healing.

  • L-Tyrosine (0.1 g): a precursor of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine, supporting cognitive function and the stress response.

  • L-Alanine (0.5 g): important for glucose metabolism and energy production.

  • L-Aspartic acid (0.2 g): plays a role in energy metabolism and the synthesis of various molecules in the body.

  • L-Cysteine (0.2 g): a precursor of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant, and important for detoxification.

  • L-Glutamine (0.2 g): supports muscle recovery, immune function and gut health.

  • L-Proline (0.6 g): essential for collagen synthesis, which is crucial for skin, joint and connective tissue health.

  • L-Serine (0.6 g): plays a role in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and supports various metabolic processes.

Leucine, isoleucine and valine are the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). They are depleted during intense training, and supplying them helps keep the body in a muscle-building state.

What it is for

Amino IV therapy has become a game-changer in the quest for muscle building. By providing the essential amino acids needed for muscle growth and recovery directly, it offers a unique advantage for fitness enthusiasts and athletes. It may help:

  • Boost protein synthesis: essential amino acids promote protein synthesis, the process by which muscle fibers repair and grow after exercise. This speeds up muscle recovery and contributes to muscle hypertrophy (growth).

  • Reduce muscle soreness: less post-workout soreness lets you train more consistently and with greater intensity, leading to greater muscle gains.

  • Improve workout endurance: amino acids support energy production during exercise and delay the onset of fatigue, allowing longer, more productive workouts.

  • Maintain nitrogen balance: a positive nitrogen balance is crucial for muscle building, and the drip ensures an adequate supply of amino acids.

  • Speed up recovery: faster recovery between workouts means more frequent training sessions and more significant gains over time.

  • Boost energy levels: amino acids are used in all bodily functions that maintain healthy cells, including energy production. This can help before or after workouts, during training and in post-workout recovery.

  • Support healing after sports injuries: amino acids encourage the repair and growth of new muscle fibers, which may shorten healing time and help you return to training sooner.

  • Support lean muscle mass: amino acids can help increase muscle mass and decrease body fat.

  • Support hydration: athletes need to stay hydrated during games and practice. Dehydration lowers performance, can cause cramping or dizziness and, in some cases, can lead to heatstroke. IV fluids restore fluids lost during a workout.

  • Support cognitive function: amino acids are precursors of key brain neurotransmitters. This helps during competition and practice and in preparing for them, and athletes who struggle with mental fatigue may find relief with a high-quality amino acid drip combined with a personalized supplement regimen.

Who it is for

  • Athletes, before or after competition, during heavy training blocks or while recovering from a sports injury.

  • Anyone who exercises intensely on a regular basis and wants to support muscle building, recovery and performance.

Amino IV therapy works best as part of a complete approach that includes proper nutrition, exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. Used wisely and under professional guidance, it can be a powerful tool for reaching your muscle-building potential.

Who should not have it

Amino acid infusions are not suitable for people with:

  • inborn errors of amino acid metabolism

  • irreversible liver damage

  • severe uremia when dialysis is not available

  • cardiovascular dysfunction, because the increase in circulating blood volume may worsen the condition

Your doctor reviews your medical history before your drip.

The treatment

The Pro-Athlete drip takes about 2 hours. You sit in a comfortable recliner while the amino acids are infused slowly into a vein in your arm. A doctor is on site for consultations and to make sure you receive the best possible care. The drip can be given as often as once every 1–2 weeks. The number of sessions is always set by your doctor after an in-person assessment.

Several treatments can be combined on the same day, as your doctor advises. You can also use more than one drip formula at the same visit. If the formulas are compatible, we combine them in a single bottle; if they cannot be mixed, we give them one after the other, changing the bottle when the first is finished. Your safety and the effectiveness of the treatment are our top priorities.

Before and aftercare

  • Eat. Some ingredients can cause nausea if infused on an empty stomach. A light meal or snack before your appointment also helps your body make the most of the drip.

  • Hydrate. Drink a few glasses of water before you come. At a cellular level the substances given by IV can be dehydrating, so your body responds better if you are well hydrated. Veins are also smaller and harder to find when you are dehydrated.

  • Wear comfortable clothes. A short-sleeved top, or sleeves that roll up above the elbow, is ideal. Wear comfortable trousers and socks, especially if you tend to feel cold; we have blankets to keep you warm.

  • Relax and bring something to enjoy. Take a few minutes to relax and breathe once you are seated, to release nervous tension. Bring a book, magazines or your favorite music with earbuds; this time is yours.

Quality and safety

  • Ingredients imported through official distributors.

  • Prepared under strict safety guidelines, with hospital-standard equipment and sterile technique. Every drip is prepared fresh.

  • Given by a well-trained, experienced team, with a doctor on site.

  • Please eat before your drip. Don't come on an empty stomach.

Amino acids are usually well tolerated. Nausea, vomiting, flushing and sweating have been observed when amino acids are infused faster than the recommended maximum rate, which is why the drip runs slowly over 2 hours. Hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions have been reported. As with all concentrated (hypertonic) infusion solutions, irritation and inflammation of the vein (thrombophlebitis) may occur when a vein in the arm is used.

Frequently asked questions

Why take amino acids by drip instead of by mouth?

An IV drip bypasses the digestive system, so the amino acids are absorbed fully and immediately, and your cells have instant access to them. Oral supplements are sometimes less effective because of poor absorption.

How often can I have the Pro-Athlete drip?

It can be given as often as once every 1–2 weeks. Your doctor sets the number and frequency of sessions after an in-person assessment.

Is it only for professional athletes?

No. It is also for anyone who exercises intensely on a regular basis and wants to support recovery, muscle building and performance.

Can I combine it with another drip?

Yes, if your doctor agrees. Compatible formulas can be combined in one bottle; others are given one after the other.
